We were pioneers in web auditing (http://www.latencia.com/archivo/auditoria_web.html) in Spain. For several years, we have carried out such studies whether or not we were going to deal with the new development or improvements of the Website the analysis may point out.

Actually, web audits we elaborate are part of the preliminaries for the development of a new web architecture, when the client already had an existing website which he wants to renew. Anaalysing the company's past movements in Internet, with its hits and mistakes, we learn to improve the path and to make it more effective for the purpose of the business

A web audit is an analysis of a web site that analyses both purely technical aspects, and the quality and presentation of its contents from the point of view of strategic marketing . It's usefull to know:

  • - The web site's commercial strength, depending on the expectations of the company.
  • - How it is positioned compared to competitors.
  • - Why certain routines do not work and technical errors appear.
  • - Why it is necessary to improve certain sections, designs, and contents.
  • - What is failing on the foreseen plans and if targets can be achieved with them.

Before carrying out the design and development of a web site, it is necessary to make a Web Architecture Analysis. The study (presented in a scheme) provides the most simple and efficient way of building, managing and supporting the web site, optimizing both costs and lead times. Besides, it allows establishing priorities when developing the site depending on the needs of the client.

Inside Web Architecture, Latencia SL also provides Usability (ease of use) and Accessibility (versions for handicapped persons) analysis and proposals. The study reports the client's web site suitability to standards (so it may be visible from any device as a mobile telephone or a car navigator) and to the WAI standards.
